I thought I would use the opportunity in updating you with our recent EOT status to also introduce myself to those of you who don’t know me too well in the Bain and Gray community. As my recent appointment to Managing Director of the company is intrinsically tied in with the next chapter for this wonderful business that is Bain and Gray.
Set up by Emily Bain and Claire Gray in 2009 on the back of a change in personal circumstances and the desire to give a higher quality service to candidates in a market that was client driven. This exceptional service to candidates meant an exemplary client service delivery and the business grew quickly by reputation. I have been working with the business for five years, and Claire, Emily and I have been managing the strategic and day to day running of the business between us. Before Bain and Gray I have held a number of roles running multinational and smaller scale recruitment companies, alongside holding non-executive director roles. I have designed and run recruitment programmes for large globally known brands and heavily funded start-up organisations. All of which gives me unique experience to take Bain and Gray through its next chapter.
Towards the end of 2023 the business transitioned from private ownership to an Employee-Owned Trust (EOT). This means that over the course of the next few years we are building a legacy company that we plan to grow and develop even further alongside empowering our employees to get involved, over time, in all aspects of running the business. Employee engagement is what overwhelming comes out as one of the key positives when a business transfers to an EOT and it has certainly given us fresh impetus to think strategically about the next steps for Bain and Gray and how we want to run the business going forward. We want to inspire our team and ensure they feel confident in contributing to the running of the business and ultimately all work towards a common business purpose, ‘Driving client success by sourcing exceptional business support’.
With my appointment to MD, I will now steer the running of the business with Emily and Claire still very much involved in a client relationship and operational role respectively. Collectively we aim to deliver even more client success and candidate satisfaction through a team of stakeholders (our team) who are all invested together in the business and now, more than ever before working towards a common goal. It is early days as the business is learning all that it means to be an EOT company, but one thing we do already know is that it is exciting times for all of us at Bain and Gray and our client and candidate community.
