An executive assistant typically works with executive leaders within a company, board level and director level, to handle all the executive's administrative needs for example scheduling appointments, answering phone calls, and replying to correspondence as necessary.
Executive assistants are often left to manage their boss's in box, and to act as gatekeeper, to maximise the time spent on important business matters. Often executive assistants prepare all the documentation, research and board packs for meetings, and will potentially minute meetings to follow up.
Diary management and travel arrangements are often a large part of the role, with experience of last minute changes and working across time zones as part of this.
